Rising Through the Storm: A Dragon-Riding Bodhisattva Pendant for Clarity and Strength

Rising Through the Storm: A Dragon-Riding Bodhisattva Pendant for Clarity and Strength

His name is Matthew Greene, a 58-year-old entrepreneur based in Austin, Texas.

Two years ago, Matthew teamed up with a close friend to launch a new business venture.

“We had vision, capital, momentum—everything seemed ready to go,” he told us.

But within six months, the project collapsed. The startup capital vanished, and Matthew found himself not only facing financial loss but also an emotional and spiritual one.

“I’m not even sure what direction to walk in anymore. I’ve never felt this lost.”

Born in 1966, Matthew’s Chinese zodiac sign is the Horse. In Buddhist tradition, the zodiac protector for those born in the Year of the Horse is Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva —a symbol of awakening, power, and clear vision.

And in certain esoteric depictions, this Bodhisattva rides a celestial dragon—ushering wisdom through the clouds, parting darkness with light.

We found the perfect material for his story: a piece of icy jadeite with floating inky green patterns. The stone had a soft, almost gelatinous clarity, with threads of green flowing like ink through water. Under light, the colors appeared to move—fluid, ungraspable, and beautiful.

Our artisan carved from it a striking scene:

Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva seated calmly upon a coiled dragon, holding a sacred vessel—symbol of divine nectar, spiritual clarity, and compassion. The dragon, bold and full of movement, rises through stylized clouds, muscular and powerful, yet in complete harmony with the stillness of the Bodhisattva above.

The piece radiates presence.

The jade’s floating color blooms like storm clouds slowly parting in light.

There is weight here—but also movement. Stillness—but also strength.

“It doesn’t feel like a pendant,” Matthew said when he received it. “It feels like something reminding me: the path is still there—I just have to start walking.”

At TATHATĀ, we believe the pieces we create aren’t just worn—they walk with you.

If you’re in a time of transition, reflection, or rebuilding,

we’re here to help shape something that speaks to your journey.
