A Journey to the Source: TATHATA’s Jadeite Sourcing Trip to Myanmar

We're thrilled to announce that the TATHATA team has just returned from a successful sourcing trip to Myanmar, the home of the world's finest jadeite. More than just a business trip, this was a dedicated pilgrimage to the source, aimed at directly selecting the highest-quality rough stones for our upcoming collections. It was a cultural deep-dive that gave us an even greater appreciation for the journey of each piece—from the raw stone to the finished jewelry.

Inside the Heart of the Jadeite Market

Our journey began in Myanmar’s most renowned jadeite markets—the global hub for rough jadeite trading. Amidst the bustling energy, we immersed ourselves in the traditional trading practices. We meticulously hand-selected from thousands of rough stones, including captivating 'gambling stones' and pieces with partially cut 'windows.' By engaging directly with experienced local traders, we were able to secure several rare, high-quality rough stones with exceptional color and clarity.

Witnessing Generations of Master Craftsmanship

Beyond sourcing, we had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary skill of local artisans. These craftspeople have preserved their trade for generations, using traditional hand tools and techniques to shape the jadeite. Their profound understanding and expert carving bring out the full potential of each rough stone, giving it a unique artistic life. This unwavering commitment to tradition left us deeply moved and filled with respect.

Our Commitment to Ethical & Sustainable Sourcing

This trip to Myanmar reaffirmed our commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing. We believe that every high-quality piece of jadeite should have a traceable and authentic story behind it. By sourcing directly from the origin, we ensure the highest level of authenticity for every product, while also better supporting the local artisan communities who preserve this craft.

We're excited to transform these precious stones from our journey into one-of-a-kind art pieces and share them with you on our website soon. Stay tuned to our New Arrivals section—you won't want to miss what's coming!
