Milestone: TATHATĀ Supply Chain Team Attends Shihuí Mingalar Jadeite Rough Stone Trade Fair 2026

TATHATĀ's supply chain team was among the invited buyers at the Shihuí Mingalar Jadeite Rough Stone Trade Fair (四会·缅格拉玉石毛料交易会), one of Guangdong's most significant annual events for Burmese jadeite rough.

The fair was organised by the Guangdong Province Jewelry and Jade Trading Centre Co., Ltd. — the provincial authority overseeing jade commerce in the region — and co-hosted by Shihuí Mingalar Investment Co., Ltd. and Shihuí Huibaoli Auction Co., Ltd. Entry was restricted to verified members of the Shihuí Jewelry Association, ensuring that participants represent established players across the supply chain.

Viewing ran from March 29 to 31, 2026, with sealed bidding open from April 1 to 3 at the Shihuí Mingalar Jade Trading Centre, located at the intersection of Shangye Avenue and Yude Avenue, Shihuí.

Seeing the rough before anything else

Attending a fair at this level means evaluating material before it enters the cutting room — before a price is set, before a design is drawn. Over three days of viewing, our team worked through hundreds of rough lots, assessing cut windows for translucency and color distribution, identifying structural integrity under both natural and artificial light, and building a clearer picture of what the 2026 market looks like at the source.

The sealed bidding format used here is the same system applied at formal public tenders (公盘). Buyers submit blind offers; the highest qualifying bid wins. It is a rigorous process, and one that reflects the seriousness of the material on offer.

What this means for our pieces

Every TATHATĀ piece begins with a decision like the ones made at this fair. The quality of a finished cabochon or bangle is largely fixed at the rough stage — by which boulder was selected, which cut window was chosen, and which internal color gradients were preserved or discarded. We source Type A natural jadeite exclusively, with no polymer filling or artificial color enhancement, and we trace that commitment back to events like this one.

New pieces informed by materials evaluated at the Shihuí Mingalar fair are expected to be introduced later in 2026.
