This piece of icy-based jadeite loose stone carved into a fish with blue streaks is like a distillation of translucent winter ice and rippling blue brooks condensed in a tiny piece of jade. Its icy, clear base spreads like flowing moonlight, with a few strands of pale blue veining blurring across it, just as if a fish were wandering leisurely in the shimmering stream. The carver followed the jade’s natural texture to delineate the fish meticulously, capturing its vivid, lively posture to perfection. Its fins and tail stretch as if gliding through water, embodying the auspicious meaning of “may there be surplus year after year”.
